DAVID TIBET: SOME CRYPTIC BALLOONS

Whilst redreaming Vanished Faces for my art exhibition in LA, I have Channelled many pen and black ink paintings. I have added some of these ChannelCartoons to the shop, as the majority of my other pieces on the shop have been, or about to be, taken down from the shop so they can be possibly exhibited in LA. The ones added to the shop are sketches of SunFlower, and of AntiChrist. One of the series of SunFlower paintings is to be used as the front cover of the HYPNOPAZŪZU/C93 12” lathe cut that will tumble out in Berlin on October 21 & 22. I have PencilWritten the title of each piece inn the bottom left-hand corner, and signed and YearDated it in the bottom right hand-corner. I may be adding more paintings to the site over the next few weeks, so please keep checking, if you wish to. Some of these paintings will also be available at the Berlin Channellings.

All of the pieces are A4 (210 × 297 millimetres; 8.27 × 11.69 inches). Images are attached, and some are visible here: The SunFlower paintings are £77, and the other paintings £139. Signed-For delivery must be chosen at check-out.

COUNT STENBOCK: OF KINGS AND THINGS SELECTED & EDITED BY DAVID TIBET

I am OverTheStenbockMoon to announce the imminent publication, by the gorgeous, inspirational, Strange Attractor Press (SAP), of Of Kings And Things—Strange Tales and Decadent Poems, my anthology of prose and poetry by my utter hero Count Stenbock. As some of you will know, I have been working on my edition of The Collected Works of Eric, Count Stenbock, for several years. But C93, HYPNOPAZŪZU, Coptic and Akkadian studies, painting, and OUR CATS keep me from spending all my time on it. So, whilst I work on Stenbock’s complete works, SAP are publishing this beautiful and astonishing selection, heavily illustrated, and chosen and edited by me, of what I consider to be Stenbock’s most powerful works.

Of Kings and Things will include 12 short stories, including all 7 tales from Stenbock’s Studies of Death and the 4 stories from my own posthumous collection of his work, The Child of the Soul and Other Stories, as well as Stenbock’s horrific Satanic novella Faust, his lycanthropic dream fugue, “The Other Side”, and his melancholy autobiographical essay, “The Myth of Punch”. I have also chosen—a hard task, indeed!—my favourite 20 or so poems by him, including some that have never been published before. We hope to add some other stories and poems, as well as one beautiful unpublished proem, if there is space; SAP and I are presently checking the text and the length of the book.  Also included are full-colour reproductions of the covers of the first editions of Stenbock’s books and several photos of him, including one of him that has never been published, an extensive bibliography of primary and secondary works by and about him, a long introduction by myself, and an afterword by the marvellous Timothy d’Arch Smith, antiquarian book-seller, inspirational author and researcher, and occasional C93 vocalist, who introduced me to Stenbock’s work so many years ago. The beautiful cover, and titles, are designed by The Perfect Ania Goszczyńska.

This is not (I hope) my final work on Stenbock, but it is a book that I, and SAP, are very proud of. We hope that it will bring his strange, dreaming, dreamlike writings to where his ghost would love them to be—in your hearts. This is the first widely-available collection of Stenbock’s prose and poetry ever published, and has excellent worldwide distribution by MIT Press, so it will also be available in bookshops anywhere and everywhere.

SAP will be announcing the publication of this title very soon. There will be a hardback edition, signed by me, which will be available only from them, as well as a trade paperback, also available from them and other shops. May I suggest that, if you are interested in this title, you go their website, see, and buy, the other wonderful books they create, and then sign up for email updates from them in order to be informed when Of Kings and Things is available.

THE BALLAD OF SHIRLY COLLINS MOVIE NOW SHOWING

The beautiful film about Shirley, in which I am also briefly interviewed, is now on general release. It is heartbreakingly wonderful. Go here for more information and for where it is showing.

THE BALLAD OF SHIRLEY COLLINS TO BE SCREENED AT THE HASTINGS
BLACK HUTS FESTIVAL

The lovely film on Shirley Collins, The Ballad of Shirley Collins, will be shown on October 26 at the Hastings Black Huts Festival, and will be followed with a Q&A between Shirley and one of the film’s directors, Rob Curry. I am honoured to have been asked to introduce Shirley that evening.

Nicholas Johnson, the festival’s director, writes as follows:

“Two years ago Shirley Collins opened the Black Huts festival. She gave a talk on her childhood in Hastings and her early discoveries of Sussex folk song and music in places like the Hastings Arms, alongside a description of the music she and her sister Dolly played at home on the pianola. She also spoke of moving homes in Hastings and Ore, affected by air raids during World War 2.

David Tibet introduced Shirley to the audience. After the interval Shirley sang four songs with Ian Kearey on guitar. By then she was recording Lodestar, her extraordinary record, and her first album for decades.

On October 26, Shirley returns to open the festival at the Electric Palace cinema in Hastings. After the screening of The Ballad of Shirley Collins, one of its directors, Rob Curry, will host a Q&A session with Shirley and the audience. David Tibet, one of the interviewees in the film, will introduce the evening.”
