FERELITH & FONTELAUTUS REISSUES & OTHER FIELDS

MR. SEBASTIAN AND I AND US IN THE FIELD OF SCARS
I was looking at earlier pasts of me, of us, this morning, and I found a long film, made by Sleazy, documenting a 1983 journey we made to see the Fabled Mr. Sebastian, Piercer and Tattooer Extraordinaire, and one of the loveliest and most  fascinating people I have ever met. Jhonn Balance and I had gone to Mr. Sebastian’s studio for some of his lovely and skilful artistic attention, and Sleazy was there to film our experiences.

Accompanying Balance, Sleazy, and me to see Mr. Sebastian, were Lovely Marc Almond, Lovely Alaura O’Dell (who at that time carried another name), and one other. Sleazy filmed all of us receiving some perfect examples of Mr. Sebastian’s perfect, if sometimes perhaps painful, work, whilst in Mr. Sebastian’s studio his belovèd BBC Radio 2 whistled on, and we all chatted and gossiped. Here is a photograph of me grinning after the procedure. Those both were, and weren’t, the days, my friends.

Once when we were young, once when we were so young…

Dear Moons and Suns and Sparrows and Willows:

I hope and pray you are happy and snappy and not UnderMoon.

Some snippets and trinkets below below below. I have more to write, but my FOOT is STRICKEN. So more of this and that and other soon or not.

Love David+++ xxx

COMING VERY SOON: A NEW 12" BY C93

I and C93 are presently finishing off the new one-sided, 2-track, 12" single by C93, taken from the forthcoming album. The single will be released in 3 different lathe-cut editions, hopefully in October. It will be added to our shop once we receive them, when more details will be announced. The initial demos for the next C93 album were completed in March of this year, and pressed as a TP on black vinyl. I and C93 are now working on the remaining chapters of this SongCycle. The demo LP will be released as a limited ArtEdition at the same time the album itself is released, sometime next year.

DAVID’S FIRST 2 SOLO ALBUMS FERELITH & FONTELAUTUS REISSUED BY HOMALEPH TOWARDS THE END OF 2020

I am, yet again, OverMoon to announce that my first two solo albums, FERELITH and FONTELAUTUS, in a series of 5 solo albums by me, will be released by HomAleph towards the end of the year. HomAleph will be adding the albums to their shop as soon as they arrive with them. As you may know, the two limited editions I released on our new label, Cashen’s Gap—a black vinyl, and a clear lathe edition—sold out immediately, and after many delays were finally sent out last month. The HomAleph press release follows below.

Please note: the HomAleph reissues of FERELITH and FONTELAUTUS are not available from us.
Dear HomFriends and HomAlephFamily:

We are OverMoon to gossip with you that we will SoonSoonSoon be releasing our own versions of the first two solo albums by David Tibet, FERELITH (HOMALEPH 3) and FONTELAUTUS (HOMALEPH 4).

Each of these two albums were originally released by David in 2 different, and very limited, screenprinted, signed, and numbered editions earlier this year on his Cashen’s Gap label, a black vinyl edition (111 copies of each album) and a clear-lathe vinyl edition (59 copies of each album), and are long sold out.

We are very happy to be able to make these available again. Both albums have been remastered from the original tapes. Each record will be pressed onto a beautiful black-marbled-transparent vinyl, with printed matte sleeve. Each album includes an insert printed on transparent art-paper.

The images on the inserts on the HomAleph editions are different to the images on the Cashen’s Gap editions. Each album will be limited to 500 copies. A CD of each album will also be released in a mini-LP sleeve, with insert.

Another 3 solo albums by David complete this project, and will be released on Cashen’s Gap, and then on HomAleph, within the next 12 months.

DAVID INTRODUCES JOHN DUNCAN’S THE WOODMAN AND THE ELVES

I was OverMoon to be introduced to this strange children’s book, now gorgeously republished by Malört, by my friend, the excellent Dr. Per Faxneld. He kindly asked me to write a note of my appreciation for it—it really is an amazing and idiosyncratic fairy tale, and I am very grateful to Per for telling me about it! I consider it “one of the oddest children’s stories I have ever read—and perhaps the Shaggiest of all the ShaggyElf stories ever written.”

My afterword is printed in English; the author’s text is printed both in a Swedish translation, and in the original English.

The book even has a sticker on the front announcing my contribution, describing me as “artist, musician, and mystic”. I told Per that I would make it clear in this update that I did not choose, or approve, those descriptions of me; as you all know, I am absolutely not an artist, and certainly a musician, and definitely not a mystic—I don’t even know what those WORDS mean. Malört’s press release follows below.
A new publication from the Swedish bibliophile press Malört: a Swedish translation (original English text included as an appendix) of Scottish Theosophist and artist John Duncan’s (1866–1945) enigmatic, haunting and super-rare children’s book The Woodman and the Elves (c. 1905). Afterword by David Tibet.

Duncan claimed to hear fairy music whilst he painted, and perhaps you will too when you read his book and look at the sublime illustrations.

The book, priced at €15 plus shipping, can be ordered from any country by e-mailing info@ronnells.se. It has a sewn binding hardcover with a cloth spine, and is published in a limited edition of 444 copies. It can also be purchased in Scandinavia via Adlibris here.

DAVID INTRODUCES RW CHAMBERS’ THE KING IN YELLOW IN A PORTUGUESE TRANSLATION

I was delighted to be asked to write a small introduction for a Portuguese translation of RW Chambers’ The King In Yellow; my introduction will be printed both in English and Portuguese. As many of you will know, this is an astonishing and unique collection of short stories, much admired by HP Lovecraft, and a great influence on much wonderful literature, as well as on the first series of the HBO series True Detective, itself hugely inspired by the work of Thomas Ligotti, and especially Ligotti’s The Conspiracy Against The Human Race. The book is published in October by Livro B; more details will be given when I have them.

DAVID LOVES PHANTOM CITIES & THE SODALITY OF THE SHADOWS WHO SAW THEM

I recently received a wonderful album, Phantom Cities, by The Sodality of the Shadows, on CD and LP, from my dear friend Ray Russell of Tartarus Press, and I recommend it utterly. The press release follows:
The Sodality of the Shadows: Atmospheric music inspired by writer Arthur Machen and occultist A.E. Waite. Phantom Cities is a new album of noir soundscapes with echoes ranging from Labradford to Duane Eddy.

Join The Sodality of the Shadows as they walk in Black Raven Alley, visit the Strange Houses of Sleep, hear the Tales of the Assassins, and stray in terrains where the Other Stations are encountered.

Taking their name from Machen and Waite’s mysterious early 20th century society The Sodality brings together a group of musicians, artists, and writers exploring a rich world of myths and symbols.

Phantom Cities is available as a digital download from Bandcamp here, on CD (with booklet), and on vinyl. It can be found on iTunes, and similar sites, and can be streamed at places such as iTunes and Spotify.

For more details, and to purchase the album, contact The Sodality of the Shadows here.
